Prognaut review

Artist/ Band: Low Budget Orchestra
Title: The Second Best
Label: Low Budget Music
Year of Release: 2008

The Review:
Low Budget Orchestra, while sounding like a full band is in fact only one man, multi-instrumentalist Mikko Muranen. The second release by LBO, "The Second Best" is primarily an instrumental hard progressive rock (sometimes metal) with spoken word intermezzo. The dominating sounds are keyboards and guitars. The end result sometimes reminds me of Ronnie Montrose's instrumental solo albums from the late 70's/ early 80's.
I'm always amazed at how one man can compose and play out the parts on various instruments. Mikko is one of those talented unknown artists that I dare to say is better than some of the heavyweights in the genre. There are some spirtual intermezzos that connect songs that may deter some listeners. Other than that I would recommend fans of guitar oriented instrumental progressive rock to seek out and purchase "The Second Best", by Low Budget Orchestra ASAP!
