Low Budget Orchestra – The Second Best

Low Budget Orchestra nennt der finnische Rockmusiker Mikko Muranen sein Musikprojekt, bei dem er sämtliche Instrumente selber spielt. Daher wohl auch der ungewöhnliche Bandname. „The Second Best“ ist bereits das zweite Album, das Mikko veröffentlicht. Die in 2008 in Eigenregie produzierte CD enthält instrumentalen Progressive Rock.
Hauptinstrument von Mikko ist die E-Gitarre, die streckenweise von Synthieflächen unterlegt ist und von Keyboardkaskaden begleitet wird. Dazu bietet Mikko noch Drums, die den Rhythmus vorgeben.
"Take On The World" ist der erste Titel der CD, der mit einer sehr eingängigen Melodielinie ausgestattet ist. Keyboards und teilweise ein recht stakkatoartiges Schlagzeug bilden die Mixtur, die auch gleichzeitig die Blaupause für die weiteren Stücke der CD darstellt. Mit Track zwei bleibt Mikko in der gleichen Spur, hat aber darüber hinaus dem Titel noch eine Prise Hardrock beigemengt. Die Sprachfetzen zwischen einigen der Stücke klingen etwas wie eine Mischung aus Meat Loaf-Produktionen und Blade Runner, allerdings ohne ihre Klasse zu auszustrahlen. Und im Stück "Stalemate" gibt es gar mehrfache Überlagerungen von Sounds, die das Stück sehr stark überfrachten. Vielleicht ist auch genau das das Manko der CD, dass sie an vielen Stellen zu viele Sounds aufweist.
Klingt das am Anfang noch recht frisch, so merkt man bei den folgenden weiteren Tracks doch schnell, das sich Mikko’s Stil nicht wesentlich ändert, was die einzelnen Tracks doch sehr austauschbar macht. Für meinen Geschmack ist zu wenig Abwechslung vorhanden.
Stilistisch bewegt sich Mikko mit seinem Low Budget Orchestra in der Nähe von Musikern wie Maxxess, allerdings eine Spur härter, wie ich finde. Da die Stücke von Sound und Struktur doch recht ähnlich klingen, bleibt kein einziger Titel im Gedächtnis hängen und der Wunsch nach einem erneuten CD-Start ist äußerst gering. Low budget Orchestra calls the Finnish rock musician Mikko Muranen its music project, with which he plays all instruments. From there probably the unusual volume name. "The Second Best" is already the second album, which publishes Mikko. In 2008 the CD produced in self-direction contains instrumentalen progressive skirt.
Main instrument of Mikko is the E-guitar, which is underlaid by Synthieflächen by sections and is accompanied by key board cascades. In addition Mikko offers still Drums, which give the rhythm.
"Take on The World" is the first title of the CD, which is equipped with a very in-usual melody line. Key boards and partly a quite stakkatoartiges Schlagzeug form the mixture, which also at the same time represents the blueprint for the further pieces of the CD. With TRACKs two Mikko remains in the same trace, to the title still another prize hard skirt however beyond that mixed. The Sprachfetzen between some the pieces sounds somewhat like a mixture from Meat Loaf productions and Blade Runner to radiate however without their class too. And in the piece " Stalemate" there are repeated overlays of sounds, which overload the piece very strongly. Perhaps also exactly that is the deficiency of the CD that she exhibits many sounds in many places too.
Sounds still quite fresh at the beginning, then one notices with the following further TRACKs nevertheless fast, which change for Mikko's style not substantially, which makes the individual TRACKs nevertheless very exchangeable. For my taste too little alternation is present.
Stilistisch moves Mikko with its Low budget Orchestra in close proximity to musicians such as Maxxess, however a trace harder, as I find. Since the pieces of sound and structure sound nevertheless quite similar, not one title in the memory remains hanging and the desire for a renewed CD start is extremely small.
