Low Budget Orchestra - Extraordinary (Low Budget Music)
So außergewöhnlich, wie es der Titel verheißt, ist die Bezeichnung "Low Budget Orchestra" denn nun doch nicht, obwohl ein gewisser Originalitätsfaktor zweifellos mitschwingt. Das auf der vorliegenden Produktion zu hörende "LBO" ist keinesfalls zu verwechseln mit der gleichnamigen Partyband aus Österreich und weist auch keine direkte Verbindung zum gleich- bzw. ähnlichlautenden Titel von Frank Zappa (ursprünglich als "Music For Electric Violin And Low Budget Orchestra" 1970 für das Album "King Kong" des Geigers Jean-Luc Ponty enstanden, jedoch vom Plattenlabel nicht in der von Zappa geforderten Besetzung für 97-köpfiges Orchester genehmigt und schließlich zu zehnt zwischen Strawinsky und Jazz hin- und herpendelnd, später dann auch als "Revised Music For Guitar And Low Budget Orchestra" live performt) auf, sondern ist das Progressive-Rock-Ein-Mann-Projekt des Finnen Mikko Muranen. Dieser, alleinig zu hörender Musiker auf der Platte, schafft es nicht nur, ein wirklich beachtenswertes musikalisches Werk vorzulegen, sondern glänzt auch mit überzeugender Gitarrenarbeit, die im Prog-Sektor durchaus den Vergleich mit großen Namen bestehen kann. Daneben weiß Muranen auch tastentechnisch zu überzeugen, hat Witz und Gespür für musikalische Gimmicks, dichte Arrangements und interessante melodische Strukturen. Auf Mikkos Homepage kann man sich die Songs anhören und herunterladen. Mein Tipp: ausprobieren, staunen, begeistert sein. Ich bin zumindest ziemlich beeindruckt davon, was hier einer allein auf die Reihe kriegt. Dazu braucht es sonst kreative Teams, große Studio und alles andere als Low Budget.
